If God doesn't need a creator because by definition he cannot be created...?

When we see the small things we as people make, like a car, a watch, a tv ---- we know someone has created these. We couldn't convince a thinking person any of these "just happened", that no one created them. Why would someone think that something like the universe, which is so much more complex "just happened" without a creator?
