What do these philosophical quotes mean?

It is another mantra of the idealist/Utopian philosophy. While striving for the ideal is a laudable effort, it is an impracticable one because the ideal only exists in the mind (spirit?). Only through self-actualization do we achieve the totality of the creative impulse.
