Does anybody know of a free, forum-based website?

I want an entertaining site, mostly based on forums: Chit-Chat, Role Playing, that kind of stuff. If you have ever visited Foopets.com before it experienced major kid changes to it, and went to subscription only, you know exactly what I'm looking for. **Please no websites like runescape where you fight and kill goblins and things, no websites like that.* I don't want to have to pay anything.
