Could a neurotransmitter imbalance destroy a person this completely?

This is all depression. It has changed because you have been depressed for quite a while-it got worse. Long term depression will effect many areas of your life. I understand the personality changes you are describing. I think you may be experiencing derealization or depersonalization. Try a different antidepressant and see a therapist for this. Depression can completely screw up your neurotransmitters and mess up your perception of yourself and the world around you. So you are right about the chemical imbalance but not about the cause of it. As to your seizure-that could have been from the Wellbutrin. But the wellbutrin probably didn't cause the symptoms you are describing- your depression has become more severe and that is what you are feeling.
